DARE PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

With an increasing demand for architects and engineers with multidisciplinary knowledge and skills, our architectural engineering degree at the Department of Architecture Engineering at the University of Duhok combines the creativity of architecture with the rigour of building engineering, preparing you for a successful future career designing and engineering the built environment. Learn how to apply environmental design and engineering principles to create future-proof buildings.

In this course, you will learn about all the engineering disciplines related to buildings and their infrastructure, as well as gain an understanding of architectural thinking and practise.

Building systems engineers with multidisciplinary skills at the interface of engineering and architecture are in high demand. You'll become the type of engineer who values social responsibility and holistic thinking, ready to pursue a career designing high-quality buildings with low environmental impact.

The Integrated Design Project will take up a full semester of your fifth year. The project encourages you to use your imagination on a grand scale by creating plans for an entire urban regeneration project based on a real-world site in Duhok. You'll research new design methods and materials while creating detailed designs such as elegant bridges, sustainable and environmentally friendly multi-story buildings, or cutting-edge sports venues. It will provide you with invaluable project experience as well as a sense of the types of issues you may face in your career.

At DARE we strive that our graduates to attain:

1. The ability to apply knowledge of Mathematics that is fundamental to technical building problems.

2. The ability to identify, formulate, and solve practical architecture engineering problems.

3. The ability to design architecture engineering processes and systems, to meet desired needs.

4. The ability to conduct architecture engineering experiments to study different architecture engineering solutions, as well as to use laboratory instruments and computers to analyse and interpret data.

5. The ability to function effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

6. The ability to work in a professional architecture engineering environment, and to understand the role of the architecture engineering in construction industry and the associated economical considerations while preserving the environment.

7. The ability to communicate effectively in written, oral, and graphical forms, including the use of professional quality visual aids, all in the English language.

DARE Mission: 

The Department of Architecture Engineering (DARE) at the University of Duhok (UOD) has a mission statement that can be summarized as follows: preparing students for professional practice and graduate study through a program that provides a strong fundamental technical and high-quality undergraduate education, as well as providing the industry sector with well-trained architecture engineers who will contribute to the building process in the Kurdistan Region and around the world. A key goal is to generate breakthrough science and technology via high-quality research in frontier areas of building engineering and sustainable building environment. 

DARE Vision:

The Department of Architecture Engineering (DARE) at the University of Duhok (UOD) aspires to gain national and international accelerations for its research and student training in order to tackle industrial and societal challenges. 

Program Educational Objectives:

Our course content is reviewed annually to ensure that it is current and relevant. Individual modules are updated or removed on a regular basis. This is in response to findings from our world-class research, funding changes, professional accreditation requirements, student or employer feedback, review results, and changes in staff or student numbers. In the event of a change, we will consult and inform students as soon as possible, and we will take reasonable steps to minimise disruption. We no longer provide unrestricted module selection. If your course included unrestricted modules, your department will provide you with a list of modules from their own and other subject areas from which to choose.

The educational objectives of the architecture engineering program are to produce graduates who will be, within a few years of graduation:

• Engage in productive careers in architecture engineering in public and private sectors and have the ability to think and develop further knowledge in the field of construction industry.

• Effective engineers that continue to develop personally and professionally into prospective leaders.

• Successful in demonstrating their obligations to the profession and society.

The program’s educational objectives are periodically reviewed by the department. The suggested changes are then discussed with the other programs for the feedback and approval.
